Coastal Pinellas is hard on the outdoor unit. Salt air pits coils and cabinets closer to the docks faster than the same condensing unit a few miles inland. We look for corrosion instead of just adding refrigerant and leaving.

Yes, if the coil sits in it. Corrosion on cabinets and fins is one of the first things we look at on a Tarpon waterfront call. Rinsing the coil and keeping the pad clear buys years. Inland of US 19 the salt is milder; we still check.
