What we actually do to ducts
Sealing, repairs, modifications, replacement — and cleaning when it’s needed
- Sealing with mastic: we seal joints and boots with mastic, not tape that peels off in attic heat, so the air you paid to cool ends up in the rooms.
- Repairs: crushed flex, disconnected runs, duct falling off a boot in the attic — we put it back the way it should have been.
- Modifications: adding a return or resizing a run when one room is starved and the rest of the house is fine.
- Replacement: old crumbling flex or an undersized trunk that no amount of patching will fix.
- Duct cleaning: when the vents are genuinely filthy we clean them — separate from sealing, and we’ll tell you which one you need.

FAQs
When is it a duct repair versus a replacement?
If the flex is intact and the problem is leaky joints, a crushed section, or a run that came off a boot, a repair plus a proper mastic seal usually fixes it. Replacement makes sense when the flex is old and crumbling, the inner liner is torn up, or the trunk was undersized from day one — patching that only buys you a season. We look at it and tell you which one you’re actually dealing with.
Do you seal and insulate at the same time?
Yes, and we’d rather do both. Sealing leaky ducts and skipping thin attic insulation — or the reverse — is half a job, and you feel the other half every afternoon. Ask for the free combined duct and insulation assessment and we’ll price them together.
Is duct cleaning the same as duct sealing?
No. Cleaning removes dust and debris from inside the ducts, which is worth doing when the vents are filthy. Sealing stops conditioned air from leaking out into the attic. Cleaning does nothing for a leak and sealing does nothing for grime, so we tell you which problem you actually have instead of selling both by default.
