Heat Pump Repair in Largo, FL
Heat pumps heat and cool many Largo homes, including most manufactured homes and plenty of 1980s and 1990s ranches near Walsingham and Ridge Road. When yours stops heating on a chilly January morning or struggles to cool in July, Nolan Air tests both modes, explains the cause and quotes the repair before any work.
Largo heat pump calls are booked Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–7:00 PM; evening and weekend visits depend on availability. Call (727) 353-9293.
Heat Pump Issues We See in Largo
- Reversing valves sticking after a long cooling season
- Defrost control failures on cold mornings
- Package heat pumps clogged with lawn debris
- Heat strips running constantly and spiking bills
- Refrigerant leaks in older outdoor coils
Winter Mornings in Mid-County
Largo cools off a little more overnight than the beaches, so heat pumps here get a real workout on the few cold mornings each winter. Auxiliary heat strips often kick on during those mornings, and a stuck relay can keep them running all day. We test the controls and strips on every heating call.
Thermostat Setup
Some Largo homes have thermostats that were swapped without proper heat pump configuration. That can reverse the heating and cooling calls, run backup heat too often or prevent defrost from working properly. We check the wiring and settings during diagnosis.
Diagnosis and Repair
Heating and cooling share one refrigerant circuit in a heat pump, so we check both modes. Heat strips and their relays get tested so they neither run constantly nor quit on a cold day. If refrigerant is low, we find and explain the leak before talking about recharging. A written price comes before any repair. Every visit includes a look at the outdoor coil and its airflow.
Planning Ahead
A fall tune-up that tests heating mode prevents most winter surprises. If replacement is the better choice, our installation team can quote a new heat pump.
Drive Time to Largo
Largo is in the middle of the county, so the trip from our Palm Harbor-area shop is manageable: usually 25 to 35 minutes down US-19 or Belcher Road to most addresses north of Ulmerton Road. Homes south of Ulmerton, around Walsingham Road or near the Bardmoor area, may take 35 to 45 minutes when East Bay Drive and US-19 are backed up. You get a realistic window and a call when we are on the way.
Package Heat Pumps
Many Largo manufactured homes use a packaged heat pump that sits beside the home and feeds an under-floor duct. Those units take a beating from lawn debris and sprinklers. We clean, inspect and repair them with the same care as a split system.
Refrigerant and Older Units
Heat pumps installed before 2010 in Largo may still use R-22, which is now costly to recharge. If yours is leaking, we locate the leak, explain the cost of repair against replacement and let you decide. We never recommend topping off a leaking system repeatedly, because that spends money without fixing anything.
Outdoor Clearance
In tight Largo side yards, heat pumps are often boxed in by fences, shrubs or pool equipment. Poor airflow makes defrost cycles longer and cooling weaker, so we check clearance and coil condition every time.
Where We Work in Largo
Our heat pump visits take us to High Point, Bardmoor, the Ulmerton Road corridor and Highland Avenue, along with the rest of ZIP codes 33770, 33771, 33773, 33774 and 33778. Most routes run along Ulmerton Road, East Bay Drive, Belcher Road and Seminole Boulevard, so tell us your nearest cross street when you call and we will give you a realistic window.
As a veteran-owned, locally run company, Nolan Air completes all work under Florida license CAC1819932.
